Had lunch at Sasta by the River around 2.30pm. It was busy, which is always a good sign, but we were seated straight away, which was great.
The food itself was really tasty. I had the lamb meatballs — full of flavour and beautifully cooked — but at €17.50 for six meatballs, the portion size felt a bit underwhelming for the price. My partner ordered the shakshuka and added chorizo, which was €4.50 extra for about 6–7 slices, and that also seemed on the expensive side.
We finished with the Basque pistachio cheesecake, which was absolutely amazing and beautifully presented. Again though, slightly on the small side. Overall, very good quality food and a nice atmosphere, but portion sizes don’t quite match the pricing.

Had a fantastic breakfast at Sásta By The River in Maynooth. The avocado and eggs were excellent — fresh, balanced, and beautifully done. The pancakes with blueberry quinoa were the real surprise, light and full of flavour, easily exceeding expectations.
Also tried a turmeric latte and a mocha, both spot‑on. The latte had a lovely warmth without being overpowering, and the mocha was rich and smooth.
Great food, great coffee, and a relaxed riverside atmosphere. A place that consistently delivers quality.

Very satisfied. Lovely to go with a group. Fab decor and atmosphere. The waiting staff were lovely girls. Cofees were soo expensive and the "tea for 1" teapot is a very poor excuse for a teapot, paying over €3 for a tea bag and water, this really annoyed the group of us. However, food was amazing. Recommend the roast chicken sambo.
